Shay Gillespie
Dir. of Diversity Strategy, WWT

As Director of Diversity Strategy for World Wide Technology (WWT), a $10.5B global technology integrator, Shay is responsible for finding new opportunities within new and existing commercial enterprise customers, headquartered in seventeen states in the United States’ Central Region. Shay has more than 15 years’ experience in the technology sector including proposals development, supplier diversity, diversity strategy and business development.

Prior to this role, Shay was responsible for managing WWT’s global supplier diversity program, which included more than 300 million dollars in procurement activity and advocating mentoring and developing small and diverse businesses.  In 2014 and 2015, Shay’s efforts helped WWT win top honors for MBE to MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) procurement spend at the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council’s annual awards gala.  In her tenure, Shay has helped grow the company’s overall minority business procurement spend by more than 400%.  Shay works with Fortune 500 corporation define and build their supplier diversity programs. Because of the success of WWT’s program, Shay now assists other organizations define and build out their internal supplier diversity programs and initiatives. She also travels the country speaking to decision makers about the impact of a supplier diversity.

In 2016, Shay served as vice chair of the St. Louis Minority Business Council’s board of directors.    In 2015, Shay was appointed to the board of directors for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis to help elevate programs and funding for the organization including advocacy for her own son, Diggy, who was born with Down syndrome in 2008.

Shay has received the Phenomenal Woman Award presented by Old School 95.5 and First Bank, St. Louis American’s Salute to Young Leaders Award, Delux Magazine’s Power 100 Award and Delux magazine’s 50 Most Intriguing Women Award.  She is also an active member of her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated serving as Delta GEMS co-chair for six years. Shay is also a graduate of the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative Fellows program and Focus St. Louis CORO Women in Leadership, Focus St. Louis Diversity Leadership Program and a member Professional Organization of Women, Regional Business Council and United Way’s Young Leadership Society.

In August 2016, Shay founded Color Coded Kids (CCK), an interactive computer programming organization designed to teach children how to code.  The program was started in Shay’s basement because Shay couldn’t find a program in her area for her then 9-year-old son. In 2017, Shay partnered with the Microsoft Store in St. Louis and was able to leverage that relationship to branch out into other cities. Her organization now teaches kids to code in St. Louis, MO, Florissant, MO, Houston TX and Arlington, VA using the Microsoft Store interactive classroom area.

Shay received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Studies from Saint Louis University and a Master of Arts in Communications Management from Webster University.

A native of St. Louis, Shay is an avid reader and an early riser (4:30 a.m. EVERY single day)!  Shay uses that energy to keep up with her collegiate track & field hall-of-famer husband, James and two boys, Grant and Dylan.
