V. Faye Jones
Professor of Pediatrics, U of L

Dr. Jones is a Kentucky native and graduated from Western Kentucky University with her BS in biology.  She attended medical school and completed her residency at the University of Louisville before going on to obtain her Masters of Science and Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology, both from the University of Louisville. Dr. Jones also completed a fellowship in Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. 

Dr. Jones, a tenured professor of pediatrics, joined U of L in 1990 and has been in academic medicine for 27 years both in the clinical and administrative realm. This has given her the opportunity to take a leadership role in many diversity related programs, including overseeing the pipeline programs related to workforce diversification at U of L. In 2013, Dr. Jones was named the Associate Vice President for Health Affairs/ Diversity Initiatives. In this role, she is responsible for the development and coordination of programming that impacts the culture and climate on the Health Science Center campus. Additionally, Dr. Jones has been directly involved in providing curriculum content for the healthcare professional students related to teaching cultural competency. She and her team have initiated other learning modalities for staff, faculty and students including poverty simulations, monthly diversity dialogue sessions and workshops on unconscious bias in healthcare. Dr. Jones has served on the steering committee involving the incorporation of the AAMC competencies for LGBT health into the medical school curriculum, and currently she and her team are working on a process to develop a curriculum for the HSC schools related to cultural humility.

Dr. Jones is a practicing primary care pediatrician, which she has done for approximately 28 years. She serves as the Associate Medical Director for the Division of General Pediatrics.
